Well, heaven forbid that I say anything to support the
mass media, but in the media's defence, Apple was
very-very VERY stingy on the MP2000. There wer pages
of NDAs that journalists had to agree to including one
that stated that the journalist has to commit to a
2-week training program that Apple would put them
through in order to get the Newt to adapt to the
journalist. Most journalists didn't want to do this,
so they came to me and the company I worked for rented
these things out! Most notable was Conrad
Blickensdorfer (Editor of Pen Computing for those who
didn't know) We rented him a MP2000 and soon
afterwards he purchased his own (almost didn't get
ours back!) I helped him out and gave him tips and
hints (this was back when AOL had a very active Newton
group).
So, most of the journalistic misinformation comes from
prior versions of Newton and NOT from the
MP2000...Apple kinda shot themselves in the foot this
time!
