Hello Glenn,
Based on what you have described, I would suggest first cleaning the upgrade
card's edge contacts. You can do this with a normal pencil eraser, or with
a bit of rubbing alcohol and some cloth or whatever. Likewise, try and
ensure that the upgrade slot in the eMate is clean and doesn't have any
noticable bits of dirt in it.
Also, according to the instructions that came with the upgrades, they said
if you got the blinking backlight, to repeat the upgrade but pay close
attention to ensure the cards were correctly seated in the slot. I think
there's a bit of a trick to getting the cards in all the way so the edge
connector has full contact.
Another thought, is I think you indicated you weren't entirely sure that
they were upgrade cards? You are sure they are not extra ROM cards? The
upgrade cards are physically smaller than the ROM cards, and having two ROM
cards in there would definately not work.
One last suggestion is since you have a couple of them, try swapping them
around. You never know, but maybe an upgrade that doesn't work with eMate 1
will work with eMate 2. At least, it doesn't hurt to try.
Good Luck!
