This probably going to verge towards OT eventually, but ...

The author may set price as they choose. If it is priced too high (or low)
then sales revenue will not be sufficient to remain in business. Volume
sales are just that. Since most shareware is of a nature that it will not
sell large numbers .... Any other arguments imply that you have attained
mind-reader status since they speak to (what you believe to be) the authors
motives (outside of profit and earning their daily bread).

At your own personal expense, indefinitely ?? Benevolence, fairness,
compassion and charity are wonderful qualities; foolhardiness isn't. I
choose to support my wife and children first and foremost. 'Lovely
feelings' do not pay for food on the table, or the doctor bills when a child
is ill.

I know that I do not support those whose policies I dislike. As to what I
(may) have forgotten about this list ... better do some research there.
You may have already helped me, but this discussion started out when
developers were told how 'wrong' they were for wanting to earn a living IMO.

Some would say there are now several butts in this discourse {pun intended}.
Umm, sure - somewhat of a crime. And it is less of a crime to steal from
those you don't like or agree with ? Kind of a skewed viewpoint, yes ?
