WEP actually is very vulnerable
(http://www.isaac.cs.berkeley.edu/isaac/wep-draft.pdf) and WiFi has
already started working on a new standard (802.11i, WPA) to protect the
wireless traffic. An implementation of the attacks can be found here:
http://www.dachb0den.com/projects/dwepcrack.html
But yes, enabling WEP prevents any Sunday surfer from accessing your
network but it doesn't prevent cold blooded professional.
