I suppose so -- after all, it was written in 1996, years before Mac OS X
was released. Basically, any real or fake serial port will do, as you are
not going to use it anyway -- it's just to please NTK. On the other hand,
if you really want to use a serial connection, a USB/serial adapter will
do the trick (even under Mac OS X, as far as I know).
