It's not a urban folklore. When you restart your Newton, it goes from the
internal store and alphabetically loads the packages there. Then, if there
are any external store (like a PCMCIA flash RAM card), it goes on and
activates the packages on that store. It's not hard to imagine that if
you're not careful, you can load a package depending on another one that
hasn't been loaded yet. Even if that package is loaded later, the first one
won't be able to recover from this situation and won't simply work.
