Im a newbie at trying to connect my 2100 via wireless. I've been having a
different problem with my DWL-650 trying to connect to a "T-Mobile" wireless
connection. T-Mobile even suggests the DWL-650 as one of the cards to use to
connect. And just as David mentioned - the Newton Lan driver site shows the
650 card as "worked." I confirmed via e-mail with the author, and he told me
to use a card that says "worked" with his driver.
ISSUE:
At first, when I tried to connect I was getting an error indicating I
didn't have all the NIE components installed (some -48xxx number). I also
got an error message, "No link setup is defined." This second error was
corrected by completing necessary steps in "worksite" under "owner."
Laurent turned me onto possible missing components of NIE for the first
error. I made sure I had all the components on ONE store bye completely
reinstalling NIE "2.0." And just to be certain I put everything on the
internal store and made a dedicated folder JUST for those components -
EVERYTHING, NetHopper, NIE, EVEN the "storage" and extension items just so I
could keep track of them.
INFO:
The bright side: it seems all of the necessary 'connection' steps
Laurent mentioned are loading. I don't get any error messages. I do see
some loading messages wiz by on the screen, but too quickly for me to even
read, so I'm assuming their loading properly?
Bad side: After trying to connect to the web, I get a dumb error message
telling me, "The Newton doesn't have enough memory to do what I've asked it
to do." WHAT is that about?!? I get this message under DHCP, and under a
'manual' setting I created. I have not, however tried the "ad-hoc" setting
under worksite.
ATTEMPTS:
I have a 2100, connecting via Net Hopper 3.2. Tried via DHCP, manual setting
in infrastructure mode. I've removed probably 1/3 -1/2 of my applications -
not "freeze" - I COMPLETELY removed applications. Froze all possible other
ones. Shy of doing a hard reset and reinstalling everything - I don't know
what to do? Do I need to try "ad-hoc" in my worksite connection?
FINAL:
I hope my info may have helped David with his 650? Mabye this can be a
collaberation attempt for the DWL-650?
