Make sure it really is what you think it is. There are
cables that look right,
but aren't. Have a look at the url's below to find out how
the cable should
be wired. It might be possible you need a null modem
adapter.
Also, if you are using XP, I assume your PC isn't exactly
slow. You should
give slowdown.exe (available at www.unna.org) a try. You can
start
multiple instances of this program (move them aside a bit
before you
start the next, otherwise they'll be on top of each other).
