I've only had one buy from GEM off of ebay (BuyItNow, two items). They
were packed in newspaper but sufficiently well enough to protect them.
They also shipped quickly and and combined the two items in one box so that
they shipped at the single item shipping rate.
Just my nickle tossed into the fray.

Subject: Re: [NTLK] Avoid GEM ENTERPRISES
I have been watching this series of posts with interest. I have received
items from Gem Enterprises. The items were exactly as specified, but my
problem with them was the exceedingly high cost of shipping. I took the
newton (still in packaging) to the post office locally and had it
evaluated.
I was told I was charged 4 times the actual shipping costs, and when I
mentioned it was from an Ebay business, he checked the name, saw GEM
Enterprises and mentioned he has seen this business before. Apparently
some
other people have come in to check the accuracy of the shipping charges,
from this company.
Bottom line, GEM has us by the shorthairs, if we want the product, we must
pay their outrageous prices to ship.
