The reason is that the registration of Dateman seems to be coupled to the
unique hardware ID which every MP2x00 Newt has.
Given your situation I would strongly suggest to swap the logic boards
between the two cases. Thus you would keep the larger heap memory of your
2100. You may keep the 2000 display as well if your 2100 display is badly
worn.
I have done this a few times.
