I have already used the empty space beside the NIC port for an external
audio jack (fits in quite nicely), but I'll look into the possibility of
the connection.

I should have mentioned in my previous mail that the keyboard will always
come to life when connected serially (ie to zterm on a Mac), but sometimes
it takes a few minutes to send its sig and come to life. I'm wondering if
this isn't part of the problem.
