Mike

This happened to me and somebody else about three weeks ago. Somebody
suggested removing the battery and any PC cards for a few hours and then
trying again. It worked for the other guy but didn't for me. Following
that, another list member suggested taking the Newton apart and removing the
ROM card for a while. Unfortunately this is way beyond my technical
confidence levels, so sadly that particular Newton remains unusable.

I have since started using my spare MessagePad 2000 machine and have ordered
another 2100 so that I can restore the backup. I haven't had to restore
from a Newton Connection Utilities backup before so I am interested in
seeing whether or not it works for me.

Cheers
Tony.

Subject: [NTLK] MP_at_K got me stumped...

Hello fellow Newt users...

Hope you can help me with a minor problem that's causing a major
headache!

I have a standard MP2000 which refuses to boot up properly - ive tried
all the methods for resetting - quick soft hard cold etc and it still
does the same thing:

newt logo flashes for 1 sec, then keypad for pass number appear for 1
second, blank screen for about 5 secs then it loops... holding down
power button and pushing / holding reset button in ANY combinations
achieves nothing - with cards in slots or without, running from mains
rechargeable pack or the AA battery tray!

Basically its buggered as far as I can tell... if I cant fix it im
gonna get rid (any buyers?????) as its no use to me and I fancy a Palm
Tungsten T anyway...

any help much appreciated...

mike
