Head for the hill country way out west of San Antonio (around Kerrville
and further west) and you can find snow in Texas sometimes.
My folks used to winter around there all the time to get away from the
cold here and they would get snow from time to time.

Roads would ice up and the troopers would be out turning all the
traffic around on the interstates.
They'd look at Dad in his truck, see the Alberta license plate, and let
him through because "you know how to drive on this sort of stuff. Noone
else does"
