unless you find a star hub, localtalk is a daisy-chain network.
each adaptor has two RJ-11 sockets, and one MiniDIN, and they're not
just wiring converters, there's a small chip inside the casing.
the terminator i have here has what i think is a 100R
(brown-red-brown) resistor between the outer two pins of the RJ-11
jack.
i have a stack of infra-red localtalk gear too -- using NIE2.0 and a
GatorBox to do the MacIP encapsulation (a bit like NAT), i was able to
do wireless web surfing on my mp2k in about 1997 :-)
you should be able to find the converters secondhand, or maybe
farallon still sells them?
