Mac OS X will use either, and will use the extension first and
type/creator code second if there are both
If there's no extension then it will use the type/creator all by itself
Unfortunately under OS X .pkg files generally get misidentified under
as Installer packages as this is the application that is identified as
being capable of handling them
A short Applescript script is all thats needed to fix this
