Prototype isn't exactly the right word. It was a mock-up used to illustrate
the concept in briefings before they had built the real thing, but afaik it
was for internal Apple use, not as a retail aid. I was at a Newton
Developers' meeting around the time of the MP2K launch, and they gave a
bunch of them away as prizes in trivia competitions

That looks like the dummy Newton that was used for point of purchase
displays in stores. It's no prototype.
