Yes, some creative ideas yes.

I've discussed this here before and we came up with 2 ideas:

1) use a null modem cable to connect your Newt and your TiBook, and
activate a PPP server daemon on the serial port.

2) Useing the same NullModem connection, connect via SLIP (Serial Line
IP)

I'm working on the latter, now that my OS X computer is stable again
and doesn't lock up all the time.
