Yeah, Steve's right. Copying books like this is the same as copying
software.

the recent law extending copyright protection)
As a person, I like having books on my Newton when I can, but unfortunately
the law kind of steps in here. The International Copyright kind of law.

For the record, officially, and for sure: this is illegal. Just because they
didn't answer your letter does NOT mean that they lose copyright protection
under the law. This list has always made it a policy not to support illegal
copying of material, and I would hope that the list managers would continue
that policy and step in here.
