i and eckhart have tested the 3CRWB6O96B X-JACK CARD this week, but
unfortunately, it will require a special serial driver written from
ground up, which is not very likely to happen. eckhard could of course
do it, but it would require an effort that is difficult to justify.
maybe eckhart could comment this directly.

the formfactor for the card is very interesting for us newton users,
since it does not stick out from the PCMCIA slot. also, the card has
moderate energy consumption. the url for the x-jack card spec is
[http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/
detail.jsp?tab=features&pathtype=purchase&sku=3CRWB6096B]

i think if there was enough interest in the writing of a driver, it
would be possible to bribe eckhart to look into it.
