So with the 3COM 3C589D, I can hook up my Newton to my iMac and download
the Courier Web browser to the iMac and
then transfer it to my Newton?

The 3C589 has been around in different variants since before 1998, if
I recall correctly, so I don't find it surprising that it's one of the
better supported cards under windows. I've used one successfully with
Linux and BEOS as well as as my newt (the x-jack variant) so it must
be a close to a "generic" card as you can get :)
