Yes.
The firewall is for TCP/IP only. AppleTalk uses different ways (well,
to be more exact, may use different ways and between your Newton and
your Mac, it does use a different way).

You can keep the port open, though. The only server that is supposed
to run on this port are for the Newton as the port number was
registered at IANA for that very purpose.

If you want to do TCP/IP, make sure you get Dock TCP/IP 1.1. It's here:
