Actually I have had success with both the x and 9 drivers installed getting
ncu to connect in classic and getting newten or newtsync to connect in x.
They are not incompatible. However, I do have to re-plug in the serial
adaptor to the USB bus if I go from one to the other, and usually reselect
the serial port in the prefs for ncu or newten. But they can coexist.
