Eh, J&K sell beaters for $50. What state are 1,400 fieldwork Newtons
going to be in? Also, how much do you think J&K buy them for? I'm
guessing that J&K probably pay $30/2100 on average, to allow them to
sort the good from the bad, cover their asses financially, make a
living and still sell the functional but scruffy ones for $50.
I'm guessing the original 'poster' is just Doing Other Things, and when
the Newtons are available, will be back. I'll still be in on a NTLK
bulk-buy, even though my comments about 2100 values got me a 2100
(which I should have this week :D) at the price I wanted after all -
when I tried to buy one in January, it went for £140, so clearly prices
can be variable - now J&K are selling mint ones for $160ish, so if I\d
been desperate I could have gone that way too.
