Hi Dave,
I think this has been discussed here before. Sure, a normal wifi card works in a newton and at the T-Mobile hotspots (that's what is available at Starbucks). But you need to go through some sort of website login each time you log on with a device and you can't do that with a Newton.
Sorry I can't remember anything more about the discussion.
