My upgraded Pismo (G4 550Mhz, 1 Gig of RAM and a fast HD) runs very
quietly and cool. I have never heard the fan and I even had it checked
to make sure it was actually working. Compared to my TiBook it is much
quieter and does not run as hot to the touch. It may not have the drop
dead gorgeous looks of the TiBook or AlBook but it is more durable and
expandable and I think has a certain coolness of its own. It is
arguably the best of the G3 PowerBooks and the G4 upgrade gives it a
new lease on life.
