The old Macs had the "Scrapbook". Modern X11 systems and maybe PC's and Macs
(OS X, I think so!) have stacking copy/paste buffers [lifo] so that select 1
copy select 2 copy select 3 copy paste paste paste gives you 321.
But you're right, drag to the edge and save it spacially would be better...
