Yes the serial buffers are very important. And perhaps the default
settings are what they should be. Often they are set at max, which I
have found it should be set far less.

And Jon makes another point. A full backup is the true test. But even
then a full backup of a freshly brainwiped Newt is much easier than one
that has been used for a while. You see fragmentation of the memory
happens after awhile of use. So you may be able to backup without any
problems now, but say in a year might run into disconnect problems. So
keep slowdown handy and be ready to use it if you run into disconnect
problems. Which I suspect you will at some point.
