My workstation at home is Windows XP, yes, I know. I use it instead of Linux
or BSD (my two other OSes of choice) because I also do a lot of video
manipulation and the tools for Windows are much better. At work I'll be
moving back to a Linux (Mandrake 9.2) desktop shortly.
At risk of starting a huge off-topic thread here... I like PC hardware
because it's fun to hack around with, and cheap. And I don't have the cash
to put down for any Mac hardware.
