If you are willing and/or able to boot into OS 9, there is a nifty little
app called "Coaster." What separates it from the rest is that it will
automatically split your cassette's songs into separate music files, so you
don't have to go back later, and split an enormous AIFF file into shorter
chunks. It even has an automatic naming feature to simplify naming those
files. You can then reboot into X and use iTunes to convert to MP3 of AAC
files. This is how I do serious recording off of cassette.
