There is no "mobile edition" of PocketPC, at least in code base. I have the
Siemens SX56 PDA-Phone, came with PPC 2002 and I just upgraded to PPC2003
version 4.20.0 build 13349 - there is no mention of Mobile Edition.

PocketPC versions are 2002 and 2003, in marketing they do say Pocket PC
Phone Edition, but it appears that this is just marketing. My friend has a
new iPaq with PPC2003 and the version and build are the same as mine.

I have only been able to IrDA a plain text file from the Siemens to the
Newton with the Peacemaker software installed on the Siemens, no name cards
or anything else. The Newton MP 2100 won't catch anything I send from the
Siemens.

Eckhart:

My buddy told me this about his OS Version:

"It is Pocket PC 2002 Mobile Edition

I think that when MS got to CE 3.0 and the 'portrait' screen form factor
they started using the name Pocket PC. I think there has been versions
PPC
for 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. Mobile Edition means it has the extra
features to handle the cell phone GUI and hardware interface."
