I'm kind of surprised that no one has yet mentioned the various Notepad
stationery that are out there...
What are stationery? Well, when you tap on "New" in Notes, you get a popup
list. On a stock Newton, you see: Note, Checklist, Outline, and on a 2K
device, Recording. Well, these things are stationery. Notes, however is
expandable!
There have been several different expansion packs and stationery written
through the years. On my note, I have a few installed:
Directions: I don't use it right now, but when in the States, I am
constantly driving to new places, and it comes in handy.
Graph paper: what it says... Adjustable graph paper... You can set the
grid, as well as a snap-to-grid feature.
Message: A phone message slip, good for incoming and outgoing calls. It's
like the Calls app, but within Notes. You can create todos, transfer to
Todo, open the name in Names, or add a name to Names... Honestly speaking, I
haven't used it much, but it's there... ;-)
Named Note: Came with Action Names. Used to link a note to a name.
Last but not least: Two Column: A nifty calculating tool. It's difficult to
describe, but it's kind of like a ledger with free-form calculating. I
frequently add lists of numbers, and this gives me the flexibility to move
things around, and change numbers on the fly without having to recalculate
the whole list. It is quite flexible and intelligent...
Unfortunately, I've had these things for years, and don't remember where I
got them. I think I may have bought them in one package, but I may also be
wrong... There are others out there. What are other people using?
