I will agree that you can buy batteries for the iPod (as well as most other
property batteries), it can give a company more control by using such
batteries. And everyone seems to be going that route, heck even the latest
Gameboy has a property battery!
But on the other hand there are a lot of replacements available (as was
previously mentioned), and in the case of the Gameboy just a couple of days
after the AdvanceSP model was announced you could buy 3rd party replacement
batteries. However, you must agree that it greatly contributes to a old
devices retirement when you can't power it due to the fact that the company
(and everyone else) stopped making the batteries.
