Without looking at my cables 'cos they are buried, I'm pretty sure
that's still just one of the two models of old GDT PrintPack cables
that would work with the Newt, but perhaps the one without the embedded
Newton drivers (but still containing the logic buffering etc that I
think you saw mentioned before).
A long time ago now, I got the definitive email from GDT (InfoWave at
that time, someone else now) about which models of printpack would work
with the NEwton, which would not, and how to tell them apart (model
differences were sometimes just a colored sticker on the cable, fun fun
fun).
I lost that email in a HD failure but if someone has archives from way
back (this is from perhaps 3-6 months before Victor started this list?
IIRC) and can search it and retrieve it, that would be fun. I know
Paul G. looked once and found it referenced but not the email itself.
So perhaps it was even older than that. I'm pretty sure I posted it.
There were only a couple models that would work on the MP, newer models
of the cable will not work (and I've tested that, I have one newer
Infowave Printpack (well old now) serial-->Centronics printer adapter
here that I used on my 6400 for a while, and I had to use an even older
one than that to get output from the MP).
What exactly are you trying to do that the regular cable will not do?
You can get these things on ebay for abour $10 (last I looked). A
cheap way to get bitmapped, pixelly output :/ but they work on many
printers. Pinouts etc- maybe Infowave (or whatever they are now) would
share, but I doubt it, you'd have to decipher on your own most likely.
The printer cable model thing is a little confusing, with the multiple
versions, the fact that the company kept getting sold/ changing names,
etc. HTH.
