Well there are several things that can turn on the newt. Any system alarms
(alarms in the dates app for example) will wake the Newt. Also at 3am every
night the Newt will wake to do housekeeping like moving over of to-dos etc.
Check to see what the preferences are set for under "sleep". You might try
changing the setting even if it is correct. I have seen on rare occasion
that for some reason the Newt is not obeying the setting. And changing of
it fixes the problem.

It is possible to have a faulty switch (although not very common), to test
for this freeze every package, don't have any anything set for a alarm in
Dates and see if it still turns on by itself. If you do this and it appears
fixed, then the problem is with a installed package. Try thawing them one
by one to find out which one is the culprit. Or you can post a list of your
installed packages and we might be able to point out the guilty package.
