checked on UNNA for any drivers and found this...

It's suppose to speed up things...
Now this driver does list the HP 340, but from what you mentioned I would
test the printer with a PC with IR (laptop w/XP) or Mac (Powerbook w/OS8 or
OS9 as HP has the drivers for it) to see if the IR Adapter is truely
functional.
Or you can check the part number out at HP also to see IF this IR Adapter is
the 340CBi not the 350CBi IR Adapter...
