You only really need to register in order to use more than 4MB on a card. If
you have an old 4MB CF card then you don't need to register - I believe all of
the other features are unencumbered.

ATA support has been in development for almost 5? years now, and I've been
talking to and testing for Paul since he started to write it. It's quite a
complicated piece of software and it goes down deep into the Newton OS and
plays around in the darkest corners where documentation and technical writers
fear to tread. Given the amount of time and effort I know he's poured into
it, registration is worth it. Of course, that's my two cents, YMMV, yadda
yadda yadda.
