google for "newton mail v", it's the first page. Note that the layout
of that page mimics the original newton site from Apple.
The Mail V Image stationery is different from SimpleMail's. It has the
decoder built-in.

No, I hope :-)
For using a stationery, you register what's called a "View Definition"
with the system. Those ViewDefs have a class (ie MIME types) and a layout
(what you actually see on the screen). The newton allows for different a
layouts to be registered to the same class, it deals with this showing you
the "show" picker in the InBox. This happens in Simple Mail with the Paper
stationery and the Text stationery, both can handle text, but they show it
in a different way.
ImageInBox only assigns the Image Stationery layout to the MIME types
that Neo gives, 'image/jpeg, 'image/gif, etc.
