Just to add my voice to the fray, my cheap eMate just arrived and it
did have the memory upgrade.

Well worth the money, and thanks to Sonny for working out the deals.
This weekend I'll be performing the hinge repair as preventative
maintenance, and as suggested before on this list, pounding my battery
against the floor for a few minutes to see if it will even take a
charge.
