Sounds like you are missing the NIE Ethernet module, and possibly Newton
Devices as well.
Best chance is for you to start over and make sure you have certain packages
installed:
-Newton Internet (the main NIE package) and Internet Setup:
http://www.unna.org/view.php?/apple/software/Internet/NIE2/REGPKGS
-Newton Devices and NIE Ethernet:
http://www.unna.org/view.php?/apple/software/Internet/NIE2/ENETSUP
Now make sure you've got the WaveLan driver installed and insert the card.
