I think what you're referring to are battery replacements that use a
fuel not unlike standard lighter fluid and a chemical reaction to
generate electricity. I don't know very much about it, but it is being
developed by all the big name Japanese company. It is supposed to end
up being about the same size as a standard disposable lighter, but
filled with a liquid fuel (possibly refillable, like non-disposable
cigarette lighters), and last about the same amount of time as an
extended battery (or longer).

Not completely sure about this, but I think I recalled that as these
things do the chemical reaction and generate electricity, that it also
gets cold. and will therefore help counteract the heat buildup inside
todays laptops.

I just wonder though if that means people will be carrying around cans
of lighter fluid under pressure to refill their laptops, and what the
airlines will think about many of their passengers carrying around
small scale explosives (although these should not be any more
dangerous than current disposable lighters)....
