Dan
folks;
I hate typos...try to catch them all, but when the fingers fly...
anyway apologies.
Thanks all for the info. I've downloaded various .pdf files for the 2000
off the wiki. Complements to the chef.
I'll have to wait until the unit arrives to see how this works out (but
sure have enough to look at in meantime). At present, the memory
limitations don't seem too much to bear. I'm more comfortable w/single
app at a time (ala System 6 ...) What I was afraid of is what happenned
when I got this WS PB. Had been out of loop for awhile. Heard G3= OS X.
(Which it does, up to a point)
Didn't realize the WS was VERY limited, especially this screen and
bifocals...(and thought Panther WAS OS X...until a month ago. Added RAM
and got Jaguar disk and DSL.) So I'm wary of crippled HW. Should have
saved a bit longer for Pismo (which will happen RSN 'RealSoonNow') As
long as the OS is up to running what is available.
Plus acquiring the 1400c, an unexpected windfall. Of course w/o
ethernet. But still, this DSL router is here just begging to be put to
use. So, that's the aim. The 2 11.b WiFi cards are both 16-bit pcmcia
and I am assured the drivers for Mac OS are included and compatible.
They are shipped and are estimated to arrive Wed. I've been studying
this issue closely. Hope I'm as prepped as I can be.
So, I look forward to seeing the progress various issues of the direct
crossover Ethernet connection to WiFi computer and direct printing
(which cable to which printer; seems the ImageWriter II ISN'T
supported?) from the last Digest.
It might be illuminating.
With luck, my Newt will arrive just before that gathering in Motown.
Wish I could make it. Hope to see news here.
Happy Newting
Jack
