I find this theory very interesting.
When the newton came out, I remember that I could not afford one (in high
school), and it was priced almost as expensive as a laptop. It is and was a
great device, but apple back then had severe problems with product lines,
too many existed and the inventory was killing them (among other things).
Example: I had a performa 635CD back then. The other options were the 630
(no CD option), 632 (I think which had an FPU) and the 638 (TV tuner and
FPU) - this as far as I remember. The market was flooded with products -
This almost killed apple.
Perhaps he is upset at himself for bringing in the person that eventually
ousted him and started the downturn of apple. Think of where apple could
have been if they had played their cards right.
