Shoulda known I'd hear from my man Digital Dan first! ;=} Let's
summarize issue (1):
Q: Newton eBook doesn't open. Tapping the icon gives this error message:
"(i) Newton
Sorry, a problem has occurred.
(Could not display text. A length in the read-only styles slot is too
short.)
[x]"
Closing the error-splashwindow, a second one pops up:
"(i) Newton
Could not display text. A length in the read-only styles slot is too
short.
[x] "
-- What's happening here? How can I get the book to behave and display?
A: "Well it sounds like there is corruption in the package or in the
press
file. I would try rebuilding the package and see if it works ok then.
If not then try changing the ISBN, and remake the package and if that
does not work, rebuild the press file. Oh another thing to try is
selecting all of the book and change the font/styles, then rebuild the
book. Some how Bookreader is seeing a error in the style information
for the book." (Digital Dan)
Okay, so I tried this:
1. Created new package from Newton Press-file (had already done this,
but tried again, though). No go.
2. Created new package from same Press-file, only with changed ISBN. No
worky. Tried with new package with all title fields (but date) empty,
no worky.
3. Didn't understand "if that does not work, rebuild the press file",
so I skipped this step.
4. Changed whole Press-document first to a different font, then back to
Geneva (my preferred font). Created new package + installed -- this
worky muy buen, it seems.
Thanks, Dan! That'll end up in the Wiki, I guess. ;=} I'll try the
other fix tomorrow or Monday.
Cheers,
D.
