It is generally considered to be risky to use any power adapter other
than one that is labeled 'Newton'
Search the archives and you will discover that some folks have fried
their newtons and others have had success so far.
I an not especially knowledgeable of electronics but those that are
talk about a regulated power-supply that is capable of suppressing
spikes that may happen.
