I'm not the list in it's entirety - but I personally power my newt this
way. 4 rechargeables out and 4 in, using an external charger.
There's a theory that this way (or using Alkalines) could potentially
lead to longer working life of a Newton, as we aren't using the
charging circuits in the newton. Less use = less likelihood that
something in said circuits will burn out and destroy the power
circuitry of our newtons, less time with the internal components heated
up by a warm charging circuit etc.
I honestly don't think it would make that big of a difference in the
long run - but with a finite supply of Newtons one can't be too
careful. I still picked up a 9 volt adaptor for my newton, as I can
have it plugged into that while I swap the rechargeables, And so that
for the portion of my day I'm at my desk in my dorm room the newton can
be powered from the wall and not draining the rechargeables.
