It appears as though this machine will have to be opened and fiddled
with. He just bought it recently, it is pretty scratched and dented up
but had a very clean screen, in fact the 120 writing area seems more
resistant to scratches. From the looks of this machine's condition I
would have thought the screen would be horrible but it is very
resistant indeed.

I will verify if this is a switch problem.
