I have had no problems with with restoring from a linear flash card. I
have done a brainwipe and then restored for the card and all extensions
data and packages were installed properly and my communications cards
were recognized.
I usually would only do a brain wipe if I am changing newtons and want
an exact copy or if I am having problems, In the latter case you would
do a partial restore and not restore 'system information' , suspect
data and suspect packages.
Some applications store password information in 'system information' so
you will have to reenter them. You will also lose your place in any
books you are reading.
If you move any extensions or packages to the card after you back it
up, during restore these will be installed but frozen. This could
cause problems with any that needed to be stored internally until you
delete the copies on the card.
