I would get the AA battery tray and use AA batteries.
Sometimes you can get a set of 20-30 for about $10
that are nicely divided in to packs of 4.

When I get a chance I plan on getting a set of NiMH
rechargable and using those in place of the disposable
AA's. You can still have a back up battery set for
emergency or use while charging the rechargables (they
have to be charged outside the Newton.)
