This is normally the reason.

Are you sure? It might well be that there is, but
the eMate doesn't recognize it. The NewerTech upgrades
are so crappily soldered that I once had an eMate
who did claim to not have an upgrade and worked fine.
Until one day it was twisted, pushed or looked at in
a less than friendly manner, which brought the upgrade
from an "it isn't there" state to an "it is there and
defect" state, that was the very minute the eMate
started to flash.=20

Probably, if there's really only one daughterboard
installed in your eMate. If you want, you can send it
my way and I can have a look at it. Looking, as usual,
