I've had mine for about a month now and it is now the only PDA I
carry. My Newtons are still in dayly use, but as a bedside bookreader
and a portable webstation (WiFI-based).

Reasons why I like the P910i:

- it's small, a _lot_ smaller than a MP2100 and substantially smaller
than a Psion Series 5mx; it even beats my old Treo 270 (and doesn't
have an unwieldy antenna sticking out)

- it's Symbian. I'm sorry, but I'm biased that way: I learned the PDA
ropes on a Psion series 3a and I still like the way its sibling does
things

- it's everything under one roof. Maybe not always the best possible
solution (the camera is only VGA, the music player is limited to the
size of the -- expensive! -- Memory Stick, the PDA has a small screen)
but it's all there, in one little package in my pocket.

Reasons why I don't like the P910i:

- you need to invest more money to make it work right: at least a 512
mb Memory Stick (EUR 60,00 on eBay), better Office software (Documents
To Go is another EUR 30,00), a Bluetooth headset (EUR 40,00)...

- the screen is indeed verging on too small, but the dpi resolution is
magnificent, so that kinda pans out evenly

- the HWR, compared to the Newton, blows chunks. It's CIC's JotPro,
AKA Graffiti2. It's not even proper HWR, but character recognition.
Still, it works and -- for me at least -- well enough to write more
than the occasional SMS. I've been bugging the good people at PhatWare
to release a version of their HWR (which is basically ParaGraph) for
Symbian, but sofar without luck. I use PenOffice on my tablet PC and I
have a feeling that the P910i, with ParaGraph, would be the sort of
PDA the Newton could have evolved into

- the thumb-board really sucks. Some people swear by it, I swear at
it. Frankly, I just don't use it

- the battery life is only barely adequate: if you are more than an
occasional user, it needs recharging every day. Fortunately, both car
rechargers and grey market batteries for the Sony Ericsson line are
ridiculously cheap: I bought a desktop charger and two batteries for
less than EUR 15,00 including shipping on eBay

- Oh, and for some reason, Sony Ericsson are not allowed to make it
possible for their users to record phone calls. Dammit.

Does this help?
